Brain Health

Service

Looking after your brain is just as important as looking after your body.

The Hurricanes Alumni Foundation Trust, in partnership with the NZRPA, is proud to introduce the new Brain Health Service — a first-of-its-kind initiative created specifically for current and former professional players. After years of giving your all on the field, it’s vital to also care for the long-term health of your mind.

This service is here to help you better understand, monitor, and manage your brain health — not just for today, but for the years ahead. Backed by expert neuropsychologists and science-led assessments, it provides clarity, support, and peace of mind as you plan for life beyond the game.

About The Brain Health Service

Years of playing at a professional level take a toll on both body and mind. This service makes it easy to stay proactive about your wellbeing, giving you clarity and confidence through expert, independent advice.

New Zealand is leading the way with this initiative, which is already being adopted in South Africa, Wales, Ireland, and Australia — all with a focus on elite former players.

How It Works:

The Brain Health Service is available now through The Rugby Club and provides free, science-backed assessments for NZRPA members. It’s simple to get started, and you can repeat the process over time to keep track of your brain health.

- Log in to The Rugby Club and head to the Brain Health section

- Complete a quick online questionnaire

- Have a virtual session with a neuropsychologist

- Receive a combined report sent to your GP or primary healthcare provider

- Get practical advice on managing risks and next steps

Whether you’re still playing, stayed close to the game, or hung up your boots years ago, The Rugby Club door is always open.
