Leadership doesn’t stop when you step off the field — it’s a skill that shapes every part of life. The Lead the Way Leadership Course builds on the strengths rugby has already given you, offering a unique hands-on experience that helps you grow as a leader in your career, community, and beyond.
Working with horses, you’ll learn by doing — gaining fresh insights, building confidence, and unlocking practical skills you can carry into your next chapter.

About LEAD THE WAY
As Andrew & Sam Froggatt, the course founders, explain:
“We are proud to be supporting the Hurricanes Alumni in the amazing job they do in helping professional players transition into the workplace, start new chapters in life and be the very best they can be.”
Course Purpose:
This isn’t a classroom course. Lead the Way gives participants the chance to do leadership, not just talk about it. Over two days you’ll:
- Take part in four hands-on sessions working on the ground with horses
- Gain powerful insights through three rounds of video analysis to boost self-awareness and growth
- Join four facilitated sessions linking your experiences back to life and work
Eligibility:
The programme is open to all beneficiaries of the Hurricanes Alumni Foundation Trust, including:
- Past and present players
- Past and present coaches, management, and high-performance staff
- Past and present Hurricanes staff whose roles supported the franchise
- Partners, children, and dependents of the above
Value & Cost:
The two-day course, The Leader Within, is valued at $1,725 (incl. GST) per person. Thanks to the support of the Hurricanes Alumni Foundation Trust, this course is offered free of charge to eligible beneficiaries.
